  Asian Bodywork Certificate  
 

Many of the spa and wellness therapies of today are drawn from the tried and true wisdom of the East. Asian Bodywork encompasses traditional healing techniques from Thailand, China, India, and Indonesia. These techniques focus on the balance of energy in the body through the use of acupressure points, pressure points, and herbal compresses in addition to muscle manipulation.

This course is divided into certificate and diploma levels, with the diploma level building on the foundation of the certificate. Mastering the techniques in the certificate and diploma courses allows provides you to balance the energy flow of your clients, providing a treatment that is much more than muscle relaxation.

 
           
 
 
Asian Bodywork Certificate includes the following modalities:
 
           
     
  Day 1 - Qualities, Ethics, & Philosophy of Asian Bodywork, & Thai Massage Level 1  
 
On Day 1, students will be introduced to the philosophy of energy pathways in the body such as the chinese medicine meridians, ayurvedic energy lines, and thai massage sensib lines. Essential theory of asian bodywork such as pressure point location and identification via hand measurements, technique and depth of applying pressure, treatment objectives, contraindications, clients consultation, hygiene and draping procedures, qualities and differences of asian bodywork session compared to western forms of massage are discussed.

Students will learn the 20 positions level 1 of Thai massage that will lay a strong foundations for Level 2. Students learn basic sitting and hand positions, and a sequence of techniques that can relieve tension, fatigue, stimulate circulation, and restore vitality in the entire body.

 
 
           
  Day 2 -Thai Massage Level 2  
 
 
On Day 2, our trainers will assist students to obtain the right speed of massage up to 40 positions for Level 2 Thai Massage. Students also learn hands-on skills in thai pressure-point massage to relieve common ailments for special needs population such as a sick person, elderly or a child and the procedures in making an actual thai herbal compress from fresh herbs that can be applied to relieve discomfort and restore energy.

In the afternoon, students will learn positions from Level I that appropriate for massage on a table, yet maintain the genuineness of the original Thai Massage to suite the physical demands and work space of some practitioners. Not only is this a great complement to spa therapies, the techniques also places less strain on the knees of therapists. There will also be a revision of all the techniques taught on day 1 and 2 with the trainers correcting and refining each student's technique.
 
 
Students will pair up and practice the front of body massage and revision of back massage. Each day, students are encouraged to pair up with different partners, in order to get experience working with a variety of body types.
 
           
  Day 3 - Chinese Tuina Level 1  
 

On Day 3, students will learn the Level 1 of Traditional Chinese Tuina Therapy. Techniques such as rou, gun, cuo, etc will be taught. The techniques will comprise of a sequence that covers 27 acupoints through the entire body.

 
 
 
 
  Day 4 -Ayurvedic Massage Level 1  
 
On Day 4, students will gain an understanding of the principles of Ayurveda that can be integrated into the existing routine for treating clients more completely. Different oils used for massage and their indications will be discussed followed by Marma points massage to clear blockages by stimulating and/or pacifying the three doshas.
 

 

 
     
Day 5 - Perfection of Techniques, Revision & Assessment

On Day 5, students will continue practicing their Asian Bodywork routines. In the afternoon, the trainers will conduct a practical assessment for the Thai Mattress mattress, Tuina, and Ayurvedic massage under clinical conditions that includes consultation to make sure that students can perform massage safely, professionally, and effectively.

During actual training, students will remained draped at all times and only parts being massaged such as limbs, abdomen, and back are undraped.
